For my Grandmother’s 80’s birthday the family put together a compilation of memories and stories for her. I don’t know which family member knew this story, but as the story goes Janet Barney (my Grandma’s maiden name) went out west… I can’t remember where “out west”, but in my mind it’s like the Ol’West of the movies. She taught English in a one room school house (once again, this is just a hypothesis based on movies), and dated a young cowboy who went by the name Johnny Lemon.
It’s a strangely visual and entertaining footnote to her life. She went on to marry Theodore Eserkaln, an electrical engineer in Milwaukee.
Anyway, I’ve no idea why that story popped into my head the morning I drew this.
